RERA rental index
Also called: rent calculator, rental increase calculator
The RERA rental index is Dubai's official reference for market rents, used to determine whether and by how much a rent may be increased on renewal.
Dubai regulates rent increases on renewal by reference to how far the current rent sits below the market rate for comparable property, in defined bands. The index is what that comparison is made against.
For a landlord it caps what can be asked on renewal; for a tenant it is the basis of a challenge to an increase. Both should check the current official calculator rather than rely on a rule of thumb.
