Jointly owned property
Also called: JOP
Jointly owned property is a building or community where individual units are separately owned and the shared parts are owned in common by all the owners.
Almost every apartment in Dubai is jointly owned property. The owner owns the inside of the unit and a share of everything else: lobbies, lifts, corridors, pools, structure and land.
That shared ownership is what service charges pay for, and what the owners' association administers.
