Agency fee

Also called: commission, brokerage fee

The agency fee is the commission paid to the broker on a sale or a letting, commonly quoted at around 2% of the price on a sale.

On a sale it is usually paid by the buyer in Dubai practice, though it is a matter of agreement. On a letting it is typically a percentage of the annual rent paid by the tenant.

It is a real cost and belongs in the total alongside the transfer fee and registration charges rather than being treated as an afterthought.
